Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer Announces Eight New Partners, Seven New Counsel

Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer today announced the promotion of eight new partners and seven new counsel. Effective January 1, the following eight lawyers have been named partner: Hon. James Catterson, Marc Cohn, Julie du Pont, Sarah Harris, Kristin Hicks, Ian Hoffman, J. Matthew Owens, and Soo-Mi Rhee. The firm also named seven new counsel: Christopher Choi, Justin Hedge, Aaron Levine, Cara Koss, Colleen McDuffie, Jacqueline Mulryne, and Charlotte Simphal.

New Partners

Hon. James Catterson is a member of the Complex Litigation practice, based in the New York office. He earned his JD from St. John's University School of Law and received his BS from Colgate University. He has served as an Associate Justice of the Appellate Division, First Department of the New York Supreme Court.

Marc Cohn is a member of the Intellectual Property practice, based in the Washington, DC office. He earned his JD from the University of Virginia School of Law and received his BS, cum laude, in Physics from Cornell University.

Julie du Pont is a member of the Complex Litigation and Product Liability practices, resident in the New York office. She earned her JD, cum laude, from Northwestern University School of Law and received her BA, with honors, from Brown University.

Sarah Harris, a member of the Appellate and Supreme Court and Litigation practices, is resident in the Washington, DC office. She earned her JD, magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School; PhD from the University of Cambridge; MPhil from the University of Cambridge; and AB, summa cum laude, from Princeton University. She clerked for Justice Clarence Thomas on the US Supreme Court, Judge Laurence H. Silberman on the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and Judge Sandra L. Lynch on the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Kristin Hicks is a member of the Life Sciences and Healthcare Regulatory practice, based in the Washington, DC office. Ms. Hicks earned her JD from Harvard Law School, cum laude, where she was the Executive Editor of the Harvard Journal of Law & Technology and a member of the Board of Student Advisors. She earned her AB from Harvard College, magna cum laude.

Ian Hoffman is a member of the Litigation practice, based in the Washington, DC office. He earned his JD from William & Mary Law School, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif and received his BA, with distinction, from the University of Virginia. Mr. Hoffman served as a law clerk to the Honorable Claude M. Hilton, Senior Judge for the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia (Alexandria Division).

J. Matthew Owens, a member of the Corporate and Finance practice, is resident in the Washington, DC office. He earned his JD, cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was a member of the Georgetown Law Journal. He received his BSM, summa cum laude, from Tulane University.

Soo-Mi Rhee, a member of the Government Contracts/National Security practice, resides in the Washington, DC office. She earned her JD from Columbia Law School, where she was Executive Managing Editor of the Columbia Law Review and a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar; MPA from Princeton University; and BA from Yonsei University.

New Counsel

Christopher Choi, a member of the Real Estate practice, resides in the New York office. He earned his JD from Brooklyn Law School and received his BS from New York University, Leonard N. Stern School of Business.

Justin Hedge is a member of the Antitrust/Competition practice, based in the Washington, DC office. He earned his JD, cum laude, from Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law and received his BA, cum laude, from Colby College. He interned as a law clerk for Judge Reggie B. Walton of the US District Court for the District of Columbia and Judge Patricia A. Broderick of the Superior Court for the District of Columbia.

Cara Koss, a member of the Tax practice, resides in the Washington, DC office. She earned her LLM, Taxation, from New York University; JD from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law; MS from the University of Virginia; MA from the University of Virginia; and BS, magna cum laude, from Washington and Lee University.

Aaron Levine is a member of the Product Liability Litigation practice, based in the New York office. He earned his JD from the University of California Los Angeles School of Law and received his BA from the University of Maryland.

Colleen McDuffie is a member of the Intellectual Property practice, based in the Washington, DC office. She earned her JD from the University of Virginia School of Law, where she was a Hardy Cross Dillard Scholar. She received her BSEE from George Mason University, where she also received her BS in Physics.

Jacqueline Mulryne, a member of the EU Life Sciences and Healthcare Regulatory practice, resides in the London office, and is also qualified to practice in the Republic of Ireland. She earned her MA from the University of Cambridge, where she also received her BA. She received her GDL and LPC, with distinction, from Nottingham Law School.

Charlotte Simphal is a member of the Antitrust/Competition practice, based in the Brussels office. Ms. Simphal is a French qualified lawyer (Paris) and received her Master in Law, magna cum laude, from the Université de Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne. She obtained her LLM from King's College London.
