Freier Presents to Licensing Executive Society’s Life Sciences Working Group

Frankfurt-based Corporate partner Gottfried Freier gave a presentation at the spring meeting of the Life Sciences Working Group of the Licensing Executive Society (LES) on April 22, 2016.
The presentation focused on how license agreements can deal with the risk of either party’s insolvency. Specifically, Freier discussed the consequences of the Munich Higher Regional Court’s (Oberlandesgericht) jurisdiction in the Qimonda insolvency case and contractual structures in order to protect the position of the licensee, e.g., by the implementation of an in rem usufruct right.
The LES Life Sciences Working Group includes representatives of Bayer Healthcare, Merck KGaA and Boehringer Ingelheim, among others.
