Washington, DC, August 23, 2011 -- The international law firm Arnold & Porter LLP, together with the Supreme Court Institute of Georgetown University Law Center, has organized a film screening of "Fast Talk," followed by a panel discussion on competitive debate and oral advocacy. The screening and discussion will take place on Thursday, September 8, at 4 pm at the Law Center's Philip A. Hart Auditorium, located at 600 New Jersey Avenue, NW, in Washington, DC. The event is free, but attendees are requested to register in advance by emailing rsvp2@law.georgetown.edu.

The provocative documentary film "Fast Talk" follows the championship-winning Northwestern University debate team over the course of one year, while simultaneously examining why debaters talk so fast. The panel discussion will explore how the nature of competitive debate trains debaters to be effective lawyers and oral advocates in the judicial setting.

Lisa Blatt, a veteran of the US Solicitor General's Office and head of Arnold & Porter's Appellate and Supreme Court practice, will moderate the panel discussion. The speakers include Judge Brett Kavanaugh, US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit; Paul Clement, partner at Bancroft PLLC; David C. Frederick, partner at Kellogg, Huber, Hansen, Todd, Evans & Figel, PLLC; Thomas C. Goldstein, partner at Goldstein & Russell PC; Neal Katyal, professor at Georgetown University Law Center; and Debra Tolchinsky, filmmaker and assistant professor of Radio-TV-Film at Northwestern University.

Arnold & Porter has one of the country's leading Appellate and Supreme Court practices. The firm maintains an impressive track record, which includes handling high-profile Supreme Court cases that are taught in the nation's law schools, as well as several recent ground-breaking appeals involving issues of vital interest to the firm's clients.
