Brian D. Hans counsels US and international clients regarding estate and succession planning with a particular focus on estate and gift tax minimization strategies. His experience includes counseling international clients regarding tax efficient strategies for US based investing in a variety of investments including US real estate, as well as designing structures through which US clients can minimize gift, estate and generation skipping tax exposure.
Brian also focuses on matters relating to IRS, state and local tax controversies and assists clients in the process of becoming compliant with tax laws and related reporting obligations. Prior to joining Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer, Brian served as a trial attorney for the Office of Chief Counsel to the Internal Revenue Service where he litigated and advised the government regarding issues of estate and gift tax, estate planning and US taxpayers with undisclosed offshore bank accounts and other assets.
